Shardiya Navratri 2026 begins on 11 October, bringing nine days of devotion, celebration, Garba, family gatherings and, of course, colourful festive dressing.

But dressing for Navratri doesn't mean you need nine new outfits.

A few good kurtis, suits, colourful dupattas and the right accessories can take you through the festive season beautifully.

1. Go Bright with Traditional Festive Colours

Navratri is the perfect occasion to bring out vibrant shades such as red, orange, rani pink, yellow, green, royal blue and purple.

Instead of following a colour simply because it appears on a yearly list, choose shades that fit your family traditions, regional customs and personal preferences.

A colourful kurti or suit paired with traditional jewellery can already create a complete festive look.

2. Punjabi Suits Work Beautifully for Navratri

A short or medium-length kurta with a salwar or Patiala gives you a traditional look while still being comfortable enough for a long celebration.

Add jhumkas, bangles and a contrasting dupatta for a little more festive character.

This is also the kind of outfit you can easily wear again after Navratri.

3. Let the Dupatta Bring the Festive Look

You don't always need a heavily embroidered suit.

A relatively simple kurta can completely change with a Bandhani, embroidered, gota-work or colourful traditional dupatta.

This works especially well when you want something festive without buying an outfit that will only be worn once.

4. Dressing for Garba? Think About Movement

If you're planning to dance, comfort matters just as much as appearance.

Choose an outfit that gives you enough room to move and avoid extremely heavy fabrics or dupattas that need constant adjustment.

A colourful kurti with a flared bottom, traditional prints, mirror-style detailing or a light festive dupatta can give you the Garba feel without weighing you down.

5. Keep Daytime Looks Light

For daytime puja or family gatherings, you don't necessarily need heavy festive wear.

A comfortable cotton suit, printed kurti or lightly detailed salwar suit can work beautifully.

Use bangles, earrings, a bindi and an attractive dupatta to make the outfit feel more festive.

6. Save the Richer Look for Evening

For an evening celebration, bring out deeper shades such as maroon, royal blue, deep green or purple.

An Anarkali, flowing suit or richer Punjabi suit can create a dressier look without requiring a lehenga.

If the outfit already has a lot of detailing, keep the jewellery balanced.

Mix More, Buy Less

One of the easiest ways to dress through Navratri is to mix what you already own.

The same plain suit can work with two different dupattas. A kurti can move from a simple daytime look to a festive evening outfit with different jewellery and bottoms.

The goal shouldn't be nine outfits for nine days.

It should be a festive wardrobe you genuinely enjoy wearing again.

Celebrate Navratri Your Way

There is no single Navratri look that every woman needs to follow.

Whether you prefer colourful Punjabi suits, comfortable cottons, kurtis, richer festive fabrics or simply a beautiful dupatta over something you already own, choose a look that respects your traditions and still feels like you.

At Kaveri Libas, we believe festive clothing should be beautiful for the celebration—and useful long after it is over.
